Bacterial infection

Bacterial infections

One out of three patients receiving antibiotics worldwide does not need them. In addition to the related unnecessary costs, misuse of antibiotics gives rise to a major health threat: antimicrobial resistance (AMR). One of the main factors responsible for AMR is the misuse and overuse of antibiotics. Novel antibiotics, new diagnostics and better policies are seen as important solutions to this problem. Nowadays, there is still an unmet need worldwide for novel diagnostic innovations capable of optimizing antibiotic consumption.

Levels Diagnostics is developing a rapid diagnostic tool that allows general practitioners to rapidly assess the nature of an infectious disease-being bacterial or viral- and hence allows them to only prescribe antibiotics when needed.
